Password Recovery / Before we start

What we ask for before we start

These are Bhaeko intake requirements so we can screen authority and scope. They are not a statement of what the law requires in your case. If you are unsure what authority you have, ask your attorney before sending files.

Always

Government-issued ID for the person making the request, a clear description of the locked file or account, and an honest account of how access was lost. You must attest that you have lawful rights to the asset and its contents.

Individuals & freelancers (typical)

Proof the device or file is yours — purchase records, serial numbers, account emails, or other ownership evidence we can review. We do not help unlock a spouse’s, friend’s, or employer’s files without separate documented authority.

Business owners, accountants, IT / MSPs (typical)

Evidence the business owns the asset, plus written authorization from an owner, officer, client (for firm work), or IT lead as applicable. We do not assist with personal accounts of former employees without a proper legal basis you can document.

Attorneys, estates, executors & families (typical)

Documents that show you are authorized to act for the estate or client for our engagement purposes — for example letters testamentary or administration, an engagement/retainer letter, and ID for the requesting attorney or authorized agent. We do not interpret your rights for you; we only proceed when the package looks complete for our intake policy. Ask your counsel if you are unsure.

How to send materials

Prefer tracked USB mail-in or an expiring password-protected cloud link. Do not put the cloud-link password in the same message as the link when you can avoid it. We confirm receipt before recovery work begins.

Also worth knowing

  • Incomplete or inconsistent paperwork → we pause or refuse.
  • False or misleading information voids the engagement and may be reported where required by law.
